LaVonda Robinson Obituary (1980 - 2023) - Washington, District of Columbia

Obituary of LaVonda Chantrice Robinson LaVonda Chantrice Robinson passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at her residence in Washington, DC. LaVonda was born to her parents, Ronde Robinson and Carolyn Robinson (deceased). She was affectionally called Vonda, and nicknamed Fluffy, by her paternal grandmother. From infancy to early childhood, she was a vivacious child growing up in San Angelo Texas. During her teen years, Vonda relocated to Austin, with her mother and two brothers where she graduated from Travis High School. She later attended college on a musical scholarship before moving to DC Metropolitan area. LaVonda developed a passion for music and makeup at an early age and through both, her independent spirit evolved. She also had an even greater passion for creating new recipes. Like her mother, who passed her secret recipes for enchiladas, baked beans, grilled fish, and various other foods, Vonda loved to cook for family and friends. Her most requested dish was her mother’s more than delicious enchiladas, which she would gladly make saying, “I can cook other things as well”. Indeed, she could, especially her creative salads. Indeed, they were mouthwatering good. And even though she often portrayed a tough, tell it like it is persona, her love for family and friends was often expressed and demonstrated through her cooking. She loved cooking so much, most of her adult life was spent in the food industry ranging from waitressing, to the most recent, a food service manager. She excelled in her career despite being a vegetarian for the last six years. Vonda was a beautiful person inside and out that loved deeply. She had an infectious laugh that would bring a chuckle to anyone within earshot and her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She also had a big heart and genuinely cared for people around her, especially the disenfranchised and homeless. She compassionately understood their plight. Even more so being a Washingtonian. LaVonda gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. She truly loved God and unashamedly motivated others to trust in Him through her Facebook videos. They are exceptionally inspirational and uplifting. She felt her greatest gift from God was the birth of her daughter, Iammie. She enjoyed being pregnant and was overjoyed that she was going to have a girl; one that was the spitting image of herself. No matter the hardships and hurts, the mother and daughter bond were evidenced by the love between the two. Their favorite pastimes were movies, eating seafood and creating dance videos. LaVonda will be deeply missed and she leaves to forever cherish her memory the heartbeat of her love, her daughter, Iammie, her brothers TreMayne (Trey) King (Zephine), Devon Robinson (Elaine), sister, Brooke Robinson, her two special nephews, Devon Jr (Bucca) and Zy-ier, her niece AMarie, her father, Ronde Robinson, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other family members and friends. Her mother, both grandmothers, and grandfather preceded her in death. LaVonda, we, your family, thank God for blessing us with you and may the candle of your love forever shine brightly in all hearts that love you dearly. May you forever rest in the Master’s hand as we trust in His divine plan.
