Liz Edsinger

–

Annandale, Virginia

Elizabeth Anne Edsinger (Liz), 79, of Annandale, Virginia, passed away on September 12, 2026, at 8:39 p.m., following a courageous battle with cancer.

Liz was born on May 5, 1947, to Anne and Thomas Monday. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steven Edsinger; her daughter, Jennifer Mansuy; her granddaughter, Mariah Bell; and her sister, Margie MacBeth.

Liz is survived by her daughters, Kelly Pelletier and Christine Rivera; her grandchildren, Adam Pelletier (Lina), Vanessa Tyree, Cole Rivera (Teagen Paust), and Cruz Rivera; her great-granddaughter, Aviva Pelletier; and her siblings, Peggy Eiss, David Monday (Lynn), and Diane Miller (Mark), many nieces and a nephew.

Family was everything to Liz. She was the heart that kept everyone connected and the person who could always be counted on to bring everyone together. She loved hosting family parties and gatherings, getting everyone together for Redskins games, and making sure there were plenty of snacks at every event. If Liz was hosting, you could be sure there would be something to eat—and plenty of it.

She loved the beach and summer vacations in the Outer Banks, a place that became woven into some of their most treasured memories. She loved eating crabs, traveling, and making memories with the people she loved most.

Liz had an extraordinary capacity for caring for others. She was always there when someone needed help, and throughout her life she opened her home and her heart to family members who needed a place to stay or someone to care for them. She cared for several loved ones through difficult times and remained by their sides until their passing.

She was kind, loving, fiercely loyal—and stubborn in the very best way. Liz simply did not give up. She faced obstacles with a determination that defined her, and that strength carried her through countless appointments, procedures, chemotherapy treatments, and the many challenges of her final battle with cancer. Even at the end, she remained unmistakably herself: feisty, brave, strong-willed, covered in her favorite jewelry, wearing her favorite perfume, and enjoying her favorite snacks —especially Twizzlers, Mini Funyuns and her favorite drink, Diet Dr. Pepper.

Her life was also filled with stories that reflected her strength, courage, and sometimes unexpected sense of adventure. At 70 years old, Liz got her first tattoo, with a little encouragement from her granddaughter Mariah. She once performed CPR on a man in his driveway in an attempt to keep him alive long enough for his family to say goodbye. She broke her toe sliding into home plate while playing softball barefoot. And although she wasn’t particularly fond of airplanes, she still managed to travel and see much of the world.

Liz adored her dogs throughout her life, including Coco, Sheba, and Samson, as well as her beloved granddog Foxy, all of whom have passed before her.

Above all, Liz was a Mom. She was a Grandma. She was a Great-Grandma who was completely elated to hold that title. She was the person her family gathered around, the person who showed up, the person who cared, and the person who never stopped fighting for the people she loved.

Her family will forever carry her strength, her stories, her laughter, her stubborn spirit, and the countless memories she created for them. Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, but the love she gave so freely will remain with them always.

Liz’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with the loved ones who went before her. And while there will never be enough words to say how deeply she will be missed, her family knows that the places she loved and the memories she created will always keep a part of her close.

We will see you at the beach....

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, giving family and friends an opportunity to come together to celebrate her life, share memories, and honor the love she gave so freely. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
