Bettie was also an avid genealogist. Her love for history, combined with her innate ability to connect people and places, made her a respected figure in the field. It was her belief that "The roots of a family tree begin with the love of two hearts," and she dedicated herself to tracing these roots for many families, providing them with a sense of heritage and belonging. \n\nBettie's vibrant personality and indomitable spirit were a beacon to all who knew her. She was widowed yet remained an unwavering pillar of strength for her beloved daughter, Margot Bumpus. Bettie is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bumpus, and parents, Otto and Mabel McShane.
